Joseph Henley Warner formerly of Lookout Mountain, Ga., died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at his home in Jacksonville, Fla., at the age of 72.He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter Warner Jr. and Jane Gilman Warner, of Lookout Mountain. He leaves his wife, Lis Lindahl Warner, of Jacksonville; and two stepchildren, Jan Lindahl, Sussanne Lindahl along with two grandchildren, Kyle Lindahl and Kelsie Lindahl.Survivors include his brother, Porter Warner III (Barbara), of Signal Mountain; twin brother, Douglas Gilman Warner (Sandra), Lookout Mountain; and his sister, Mimi Iversen (Judd), of San Francisco, plus several nieces and nephews.Joe grew up on Lookout Mountain and attended the Bright School and McCallie School where he was Regimental Major. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he was a Moorehead Scholar and member of Phi Delta Theta. Joe continued his education at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga obtaining his masters degree.In his career as a teacher he taught at McCallie School and Lake Ridge Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. He recently retired from St. Johns Country Day School in Jacksonville where he taught for 25 years and served as chairman of the English department.In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Salvation Army.Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
