Good meeting last week. You're really on top of things.

Getting everyone moving in the same direction is a bit like herding cats, but I believe you'll get the job done. Our class is fortunate to have people like you, Sharon (Tunnell), Carolyn (Presswood) and Susie (Crouch).

And of course, Dru (Fuller). I'm amazed at her abilities to handle the internet. Thanks to all of you.

News from Sharon Barker Tunnell

Thank you so much for your note of concern. We are storm weary already, but we are almost ready for its arrival tomorrow afternoon/evening. We have our supplies; we just need to board up the windows. As we are not in the evacuation zones, we are staying home.

Fortunately , we are 60 miles inland from Galveston. We live in a former pine forest, which causes us concernabout trees. The thoughts and prayers of our friends afar mean so much to us.

Did anyone know Jeanne’s mother died. Her obit was in last week’s paper. I believe they had services last Sunday. We were going to try and go for visitation but didn’t make it. I wonder if anyone heard from her?

Dan is doing about the same………good days, bad days. Things seem to be slipping a little more each day, he can’t remember how to dial a number anymore and has trouble finding the word he wants to say but we’re hanging in there.

Carolyn (Presswood) - hope this picture will do. Sorry to say that once again I won't be able to attend the next meeting. We will be leaving for Texas on September 24 to plan a birthday party for my great-aunt who will be 104 on September 29. We will not be back in town until October 3. We probably don't leave town more than 4 times a year and it seems that our dates always conflict with the reunion meetings. Hopefully next time will work. Keep up the good work - we all appreciate what you are doing. Linda (Chambers)

Reunion planning meeting on July 17th

I think you can see from the look on Kent's face, that we had a very good time at our last reunion planning meeting on July 17th at the Choo Choo! There are more photos on the blog, too. I do want to emphasize that all classmates are invited to the planning meetings and all are welcome to volunteer to make our upcoming 50th reunion a smashing success.

We gathered on July 17th in the hospitality room where we will "meet and greet" during the reunion next May. Anne Johnson welcomed all and gave special thanks to Dru who came from Nashville and continues to be our webmaster and to Sharon who came from Houston and does a super job tracking mailing addresses. She passed around a spreadsheet of those addresses and e-mails we have up to now.

We discussed and agreed on a procedure to get all lined up for upcoming events. We will have chairmen for various activities and duties; those chairpersons will select committee members and report to Anne and all at the meetings.

Vicki Daniel White agreed to head up the decoration comm; we have a theme of "stars." ('59 shines) Linda Rhoden McKinney agreed to chair the hospitality suite with Sandra Belk King as co-chair. They will recruit helpers to man the suite and also line up snacks and drinks for the suite.

Kent Smith and Vicki will "meet and greet" as attendees come in. Reservations will be made by sending in checks in advance.

Ann and Lew Waddey couldn't attend but have agreed to make name tags for the reunion.
We will investigate getting a photographer for Sat evening's banquet.

Nancy Poole Klein is in charge of the scholarship to honor Katherine Pryor. It is to be given thru UTC and will be for a deserving English student. UTC will handle the $ and the selection. If you are interested in knowing more, contact Nancy at NKLEIN0918@aol.com.

Susie Turner Crouch is our treasurer and announced that we have $2100 in our acc't and $400 more pledged. Because we are only charging $59 for Fri and Sat evenings total, we appreciate all the donations we can get. There will be expenses for mailings, printing, decorations, etc, etc in addition to meals.

We went over the itinerary and made the following change. The wine, women and girl talk party with Dian Warren Hodge will be Sat afternoon instead of Fri.

I will send the itinerary for the reunion separately and it is also on the blog.

Hi Carolyn,

A fellow Bulldog with my bunch, Gary Cook, CHS Class of '60, died Thursday, May 26, in Dayton, age 66. Cause of death was not given, but I have his obituary if anyone should want it. Many of us knew people who were either one year ahead of us or behind us and possibly some of our folks knew Gary. He was a pretty neat fellow.

I would like to invite any of you who would like to take this tour to meet us there next Wed. Meet in the lobby at 4:00, then we can wind up at the bar and even con't on to dinner for anyone who is game.

Dian Warren Hodge visited Chattanooga and over lunch, met with an ad hoc committee of fun loving women to discuss the workshop, Wine, Women and What's New! scheduled for Friday afternoon of the reunion. Some topics discussed were fashion, make up and health issues for women who have matured just like the wine (which we will sample) that has gotten better with a little age!

Yes, I was born in Chattanooga. My parents were living at 2102 Bailey Avenue at the time.

I was born in Erlanger Hospital.

My Mother was born in Chattanooga on March 23, 1912 at home on East Fith Street. Her sister was born there in 1905. My grandfather worked in the office at the Norfolk & Western Railway. My great Uncle Howard Tittle owned W.H. Tittle Auto Company on Pine Street for many years. He was the DeSoto-Plymouth dealer. My Mother told me that he owned the first Pierce Arrow in Chattanooga.
