(from brochure)Jackie Tyber was born with Down Syndrome,which was the spark that ignited his parents, Isidore and Betty Tyber.The beginning of Orange Grove was the meeting in the dining room of their home in the early 1950’s in hope of bringing together other parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.This led to the founding of Orange Grove School, and the development of Orange Grove Center over a 56 year span. Today, Orange Grove sits on 22-acres, and serves approximately 700 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chattanooga, TN and surrounding areas. Orange Grove provides an array of programs, and seeks to draw individuals served into the fabric of the community. For more information about Orange Grove Center, visit: www.orangegrovecenter.org.
