The Chattanooga School for Arts and Sciences,
our Chattanooga High School, is now handicapped accessible.

Closest parking now is behind the school where the track was.

To go behind the school, enter Siskin Drive, take a
right in front of the gym.

During the reunion there will be a self tour of
the school at 8:30 with Starbucks coffee in the cafeteria.

At 9:45 a group picture will be taken on the front steps of the school.

At 10:00 there will be a Memorial Service in the auditorium.

Linda Rogers Chambers checked on the elevator.

They have installed a new one right inside the double glass doors in the entrance across from the gym.

You can enter there and ride the elevator to the first floor.
You would walk through the elementary school part of the school.
You'll be at the cafeteria.

This is all level with no stairs.

To get to the auditorium, you would reverse your steps and ride to the next floor and go down the hall to the auditorium.

There is parking near this doorway.

There is also a direct entrance to the cafeteria through the door on the left of the parking area. You have to go down some stairs to get into the cafeteria.

Answers from Linda Rogers Chambers:

(1)Dru Smith Fuller, I agree with the high property taxes not being used in all cases where they should be. I'm not sure though that it would be a workable situation to install central systems in a building this old because of the difficulty that would be encountered in the space for the duct system and the electrical. I would hope that the water fountain was taken apart and in the process of being repaired although I saw no actual signs of it being done.

(2) To answer Louella Cherry Spencer, CSAS stands for Chattanooga School for Arts and Sciences. This is supposed to be a model magnet school for grades K-12. Parents actually camp outside the school for days in order to get their kindergarten children enrolled.
