James Webb has died

Jim Webb attended Brainerd Junior High and was at City in 1959. He transferred to City after a football injury at McCallie. I attended church with Jim at Graceworks. He will be missed by his many friends. Mick Mickey Cobble   mickeycobble@comcast.net Webb, James "Webbie" posted November 25, 2011/The Chattanoogan James “Webbie” Webb, 70, died on Wednesday at a local health care facility. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Virginia Webb, and grandmother, Ola B. Everett. He was retired from the U.S Postal Service, then worked part time at Brown Acres Golf Club and Marsha’s Back Street CafĂ©. He was an active member of Grace Works Church which he attended regularly. Jim attended McCallie and City High, and played football while attending the University of Mississippi. He was an avid sports fan and loved to watch the Braves, UT Vols and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was involved in coaching baseball and softball and made numerous friends through his love of sports, who remained friends throughout his life. A special thanks to his neighbors, Anna Laura and Jane. He is survived by his cousins, June Crawford, Paul, Charles and David Cordrey, Patricia Frazee, all of Ohio, Judy Harvey of Athens, Ala., Newell Webb of Nashville and aunt, Hazel Webb Cordrey, of Springfield, Oh. Visitation will be on Monday, November 28, at 1 p.m. at Grace Works Church, Lee Highway and Highway 153. Services will be at 2 p.m. with Dennis Newman and Jerry Redman officiating, with burial at Chattanooga Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice, 4413 Oakwood Dr., Chattanooga, Tn. 37416.
