minutes from planning meeting, Thurs, April 23

We had an enthusiastic 23 attendees at our reunion planning meeting on Thurs, April, 23rd at the Choo Choo. Those present were; Anne Johnson and guest, David Weidner, Carolyn Thomas Presswood, Kent Shalibo, Carolyn Tuley Darr, Linda Rhoden McKinney, Nancy Poole Klein, Susie Turner Crouch, Linda Rogers Chambers, Carol Cameron Ackerson, Nathan Pearlman and wife, Wendy, Gaynelle Hixson Smith, Nancy Pruett Johnson, Vicki Daniel White, Sandra Belk King, Jon Locke, Della Hallum Dowd, Lew and Ann Tyer Waddey, Barbara and Jerry Potter, and Lloyd Stanley.

Anne began the meeting by handing out the agenda, a list of committee members cell tel #'s and a list of committee members names and responsibilities. She thanked Sharon, Vicki and Tom Wilson for their work on the lovely brochure that was recently sent out. Anne showed us the Memory Book that the class of '58 did and explained that ours will be similar. The Memory Book will include past pics from the annual, current photos that were sent in and candids from the reunion. It will cost $28. There will be a group photo of the class taken on the steps of our CHS on Sat and this will be available to order for $15. The spread sheet directory which will include classmates' names, addresses and e-mail addresses will be given out at the reunion w/o charge. This directory can be updated digitally and when we receive corrections, etc.

Susie reported that the reservations are pouring in and so are the donations!!! Our numbers could reach 150-175, wow! Because of so many wonderful, generous donations, we won't have to scrimp to throw one big, blowout reunion. Lew and Anne T Waddey will make name tags and they will be available as we enter on Fri night.

Susie expressed concern about parking at Heritage Landing on Fri night and Carolyn T Presswood agreed to investigate the possibility of a shuttle bus. Susie had gotten permission from GPS for us to park there and board a shuttle.

Lloyd reported that the banquet on Sat night will be a sit down dinner with a chicken entree and all the trimmings. There will be wine on the tables and a cash bar. The cocktail hr will be 7-8 with dinner at 8:00. Susie reported that she has ordered sheet cakes with an appropriate decoration for our dessert. Nathan and Susie will emcee, and introduce Anne who will introduce the committee members. Brian Moore will DJ the oldies for listening and dancing.

Jon Locke reported that we have 9-10,reservations for the aquarium tour. These can be taken up to 3 days before the event.

Because of concerns of not having enough time allotted for the memorial service, we moved the time of the group photo to 9:15 a.m. on Sat.

Anne told us that Joan Varner Gay has a class banner that we need someone to carry from place to place during the weekend.

Carol C Ackerson is going to make signs, such as a welcome one and directionals to put in strategic spots during the event.

Anne said that there will be several keys to the hospitality room available at the front dest for our use. Della volunteered to help with the hospitality room on Fri and Sat.

Carolyn T Darr said that she will report to Anne about someone to take candid photos.

Nancy P Klein will invite all living faculty (those she can find) to join us either Fri night or Sat night as our guests.

We set the next planning meeting for Thurs, May 7th.
